Three Ways to Verify Your DL

1. By Application Number

Use the 16-digit application number you received after submitting your new driving licence application or DL renewal request on the Sarathi portal.

2. By Learner's Licence Number

If you recently passed your Learner Licence test, you can use your LL number to track the approval status of your permanent driving test slot.

By Existing DL Number

If you already have a DL, you can enter its number on the portal to check its validity, endorsement status, or if it has been suspended. Before applying for a new license, make sure you meet all age and eligibility criteria.

The DL Application Life-Cycle

From submission to your doorstep—here is the exact journey of your driving licence application.

Stage 01: Scrutiny

In this initial stage, RTO officials verify your uploaded documents (Age proof, Address proof, and Forms) against the originals. If any discrepancy is found, your status will show "Document Rejection."

Stage 02: Bio-Metric & Photo

Once documents are verified, you must visit the RTO for your biometric data collection. Your photograph and digital signature are captured here—these will appear on your final Smart Card DL.

Stage 03: Driving Skill Test

The practical evaluation. You will be asked to drive on the RTO track (8-track, H-track, etc.). The Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) approves your application only after you clear this test successfully.

Stage 04: Approval & Smart Card Printing

After passing the test, your file moves to the "Approval" stage. Once approved by the RTO Authority, your license is sent for printing. Your permanent DL number is generated at this moment.

Stage 05: Dispatch (Speed Post)

The final step. Your physical DL card is handed over to India Post for delivery via Speed Post. You can track this using the "Tracking Number" provided in your DL status result.
