Accessibility Statement

1. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Parivahan Bharat is partially conformant with **WCAG 2.1 Level AA**.

2. Features for Better Access

We have implemented several features to make our site more accessible:

• ✓ Semantic HTML: We use proper heading structures (H1-H6) and landmark elements to help screen reader users navigate our content.
• ✓ High Contrast: Our design system prioritizes high contrast ratios for text and UI elements to assist users with low vision.
• ✓ Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements, including our tax calculators and search bars, are fully accessible via keyboard (Tab and Enter).
• ✓ Alt Text: We provide descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images and icons on the portal.

3. Ongoing Improvements

While we strive to ensure the entire site is accessible, some older content or third-party integrations (like certain government portal mirrors) may not yet be fully optimized. We are actively reviewing these areas and implementing fixes as part of our regular maintenance cycle.
